I didn’t know it at the time, but I was doing it all so I could be a mom one day

Hi, I’m Jamie Frees Miller!

I am mom, holistic health coach, author, educator, and anthropologist. I became an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach because I found a passion for healthy living out of necessity after I was diagnosed with Autoimmunity. After years of working in higher education and academia as an Anthropologist, I turned my interest in human culture into a passion for educating women and families on how to improve health and wellness by getting back to the basics of what it means to be human through restoring health with nutrient dense diets, improving sleep, connecting to our innate wisdoms, and restoring our relationship with our environments. All to make simple and sustainable changes in our diet and lifestyles that have a profound impacts on our hormone, gut and overall health.

My Story

where it all began

My health journey began in 2011 with a diagnosis of Celiac Disease. Little did I know the root of my acne, hormonal imbalances, anxiety, and gut issues were caused by something I was eating. In fact, I didn’t put it all together at first and my healing was a slow process. I later discovered my thyroid wasn’t working as optimally as I would have liked either and received the diagnosis of my second autoimmune disease, Hashimotos during my graduate program while living in Arizona.

Fertility is a sign of overall health not just for making babies

In 2014, I got off hormonal birth control and began tracking my natural fertility, so I could get in tune with my natural hormones and give them a chance to come back into balance. I decided I was going to keep working towards finding the root of my issues and embarked on a mission of gut healing, more mindfulness, and removing toxins from my environment. All this paid off, in 2018 I was able to become pregnant with my son on the first month of trying to conceive (to my husband’s surprise after I told him it could take up to a year). I thought my mom’s history with miscarriages and my Hashimotos diagnosis would make it a lot harder to conceive.

A Global Pandemic led me to my true passion

After spending most of my free time continuing to research ways to optimize my health, I discovered health coaching and feel as though I have found my true passion on this Earth (besides being a mom). The silver lining to the 2020 pandemic for me was finding this passion, which is to help women prepare their bodies and minds to have optimal pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experiences.

In the fast-paced world, we live in today, it’s a good reminder to slow down and remember to follow our hearts. Whether your goal is to be a mom or not, I love empowering women to form deeper connections to themselves and understand how to bring their bodies back into balance and provide choices around motherhood. My approach is holistic and preventative in nature and uses tools such as food, lifestyle, and mindfulness. With miscarriages and infertility on the rise, we need to stop and ask ourselves, what are we doing now that is so different than what our ancestors have been doing for thousands of years?

By preparing the mind, body & soul preconception, you are truly providing a gift to yourself, your future children, and your future grandchildren! Who wouldn’t want that?

My Approach

I believe we are all bio-individuals which means no two people will need the same things to thrive.

Personal Experience

I’ve been in your shoes, I’ve had the gut issues, the anxiety, the fatigue. It took me 4 years to even start to get answers, I don’t want that for you! I know the desire to be a mom, but to also feel your best so you can be the best version of yourself for those around you. Whether that is a change in diet, more movement, or even just more time outside, I work alongside you to identify steps to have you feeling your best, because what worked for your mom or sister or best friend might not be the best approach for you.

Becoming a mom had been my greatest gift, and I want to help you reach your goals whether that is to start, grow, or just keep your own family as healthy as possible.

Education

My professional background is in Anthropology and Archaeology. I received my Master’s degree from Northern Arizona University in 2014. My approach to health is one that connects us back to our instincts, the same instincts that our ancestors had before things like tv, news, social media and more began to distract us from what is most important in life. This “noise” has made its way into our cultures and is drowning out our intuition. My goal is to get you back in touch with your instincts where your body speaks to you by letting you know exactly what it needs when.

I received my health coaching certification from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in 2020. I’m currently studying the ADAPT Functional Medicine Practitioner program by the Chris Kresser Institute.
